Membership Application

The purpose of Seymour Johnson 4-H Home Educators (SJ4HHE) is to promote and support home education by providing fun and educational opportunities for homeschool families in the Wayne County, NC, area.

Each family must complete the membership application form as well as read and agree to abide by the SJ4HHE By-Laws (both are located below). Because we are a 4-H group, each family must also create a family 4-H account at https://v2.4honline.com/ and include each family member age 5 or older, including parents, and update annually in January.

After the SJ4HHE membership application is received and approved, membership is good for the current school year through June and must be renewed annually in July or August. New members may sign up at any time during the school year. Membership in SJ4HHE is FREE. NOTE: Certain programs or activities may have a small fee.

*Photography Release and Release of Personal Information: By applying for membership in Seymour Johnson 4-H Home Educators, you acknowledge that your name, email address, and other relevant information may be shared with SJ4HHE admins, coordinators, and instructors for the purpose of communication regarding activities, classes, supplies, or students, and to facilitate SJ4HHE programs. SJ4HHE may take photographs, videos, or interviews of students and families at SJ4HHE functions for use in social media, websites, brochure, newsletters, yearbooks, etc. Full names will only be used if SJ4HHE has a group publication, such as a yearbook.

TEACH CO-OP CLASS: 1-2 classes/6 days in Fall and/or Spring semester on designated Co-Op days. Classes are divided by age. Attend all classes or contact admins & substitute if absence is unavoidable. Co-Op teachers receive a discount on Co-Op enrollment fees and may be reimbursed for expenses up to the designated class budget.

TEACH PE CLASS: 1-2 classes/6 days in Fall and/or Spring semester on designated Co-Op days. PE is divided by age and held outdoors except in inclement weather. SJ4HHE provides some equipment; however, PE teachers may bring equipment from home. PE teachers receive a discount on Co-Op enrollment fees.

TEACHER ASSISTANT (CO-OP or PE): 1-2 classes/6 days in Fall and/or Spring semester on designated Co-Op days. Attend all Co-Op days, assist teachers by passing out supplies, maintain class order, substitute in the unlikely event a teacher's absence is unavoidable. Assistants do not receive a Co-Op enrollment discount unless teaching another class.

HALL MONITOR (CO-OP): 1-2 class periods/6 days in Fall and/or Spring semester on designated Co-Op days monitoring commong areas for noise level, ensuring students are in correctly assigned classrooms during class time, notifying teachers of class end time, passing out or collecting cleaning baskets. Hall Monitors do not receive a discount on Co-Op enrollment fees.

NURSERY LEADER (CO-OP): 1-2 class periods / 6 days in Fall and/or Spring semester on designated Co-Op days watching younger siblings while students ages 5-18 attend Co-Op classes. Nursery Leaders who are not teaching a Co-Op or PE class do not receive a discount on Co-Op enrollment fees.

FIELD TRIP COORDINATOR: Plan & coordinate at least one field trip including contacting the host or venue, communicating event details with SJ4HHE Admins and members, posting event reminders, announcing changes or cancellations.

PARTY PLANNING COMMITTEE: Committee members are committed to attending all parties; help brainstorm party themes, activities & service projects; and arrive early to set up or stay late to clean up.

MOMS NIGHT OUT COORDINATOR: Plan & coordinate 1-2 events for the school year including venue and activity, communicate details with SJ4HHE Admins and members, post reminders and announcements regarding changes or cancellations.

SJ4HHE ADMIN: Member in good standing for 1 or more years; successfully complete volunteer leader application & background check on 4-H online; work with other Admins to coordinate & oversee programs; promote county, district & state 4-H events; work with all Admins with planning community events including Homeschool Fair, Used Curriculum Sale, and Homeshool Prom; be a positive role model.
